Workshops and Dialogues

The Lab creates spaces for dialogue on human rights issues and provides education on how to advocate for those issues.

On March 26th, 2023, the Lab held a Human Rights Advocacy Workshop for students, run by Kara Anderson, Egshiglen Batjargal, Isaac Byrd, Ali Dakroub, Kevie Lamour and Karsen Mellado. A slightly revised version was later held during the Human Rights Conference. The interactive workshop taught participants about human rights, how these rights impact their communities, and what they can do to make a difference. Attendees were given the tools necessary to advocate for the social justice issues closest to them with the goal that they would leave feeling empowered to enact positive change in their local communities.

On September 14th, 2023, the Lab hosted a dialogue on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging on Albion’s campus in partnership with the Ford Institute, Curtis Institute for Race and Belonging, Office of Belonging, the Center for Sustainability and the Environment, and the Albion College Student Senate. The goal was for students to have the opportunity to discuss DEIB at Albion, build networks, and gain a better understanding of existing resources. As a result of the dialogue, we are working with the President’s Office on several initiatives to increase belonging on campus.
